I have been asked for measurements on the Squirrel ๐ฟ Picnic Table I made. I donโt have an iPad (yet!!! ๐) to draw it on so I used a pencil and paper… I know pencil and paper what year am I living in. ๐. Any way here are the demotions I came up with. As for if Jerry the Squirrel will like the size I made that is up for debate.
Since I made it we have had a lot of rain so he hasnโt been out to see it yet. With sun on the horizon there is hope that he will love it. All the measurements are in inches below.
Measurements:
Top: 3.25W x 5.5L x 1 Thick
Seats: 1.25W x 5.5L x 1 Thick
Legs: 1W x 4.5L x 1 Thick with two 30 degree cuts
Seat cross brackets: 1W x 6.65L x 1 Thick

Hi there, your table is very impressive. Well done! I am a beginner, I have the necessary tools, more or less, I’m just struggling with how to attach the legs to the table top, would that involve drilling at an angle or using a pocket hole jig? Where I come from, there are no courses to learn from and I am so eager to. Many thanks in advance, Kierri x

Hi Kierri, when I installed them I did an angle pre drill. Then used a wood screw. You could also use a brad or finish nailer if you have one.

Kierri, the pre drilling for the screws is very important. If you skip this step you’ll probably split the wood. Have fun and stay safe.

It’s the angle drilling I’m finding hard… I don’t have a Kreg jig or a nailer… You guys make it look so easy ๐

It can be tricky but a tip I some times use is start with a super small drill bit. One you can press into the wood just a little bit before you start drilling. Once it is pressed in drill about half way down the area you want to drill through. Then switch to the drill bit size you want to finish with. That little hole you drilled will guide your bigger drill bit. I hope this helps ๐
